A song to ponder

December 3, 2008 drewrozell 7 Comments

Everyone loves a song with a great melody. To me, the most memorable songs are the ones with lyrics that enhance that melody — music that means something.

Perhaps you’ve heard this song by Incubus before — it’s one of their most popluar songs and gets a fair amount of air play.

But I wonder if you’ve ever really listened to the song?

I think the message of  “Drive” goes right to the heart of the Law of Attraction. It inspires me every time I hear it. In fact, I have decided to make it the official theme song of the Very Cool Life Network 2009. (Yes, you’re invited).

So press play and for the next four minutes, perhaps you can consider who’s behind your wheel… and what you choose to do about it….

Incubus – Drive

Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I can’t help but ask myself how much
I’ll let the fear take the wheel and steer.

It’s driven me before, and it seems to have a vague, haunting mass appeal.
But lately I’m beginning to find that I should be the one behind the wheel.

Whatever tomorrow brings,
I’ll be there with open arms and open eyes, Yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there…I’ll be there.

So, if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive
Aah-ah-oo-o-o.

It’s driven me before and it seems to be the way
that everyone else gets around.
But lately I’m beginning to find that when
I drive myself my light is found.

Whatever tomorrow brings,
I’ll be there with open arms and open eyes, Yeahhh
Whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there…I’ll be there.

Would you choose water over wine….hold the wheel and drive?

That Incubus blog was pretty sweet. I’ve heard the song a thousand times, but never “listened” to it. You’re a cool cat Drew! Thanks for the inspiration to be a more positive person… And of course for letting me beat you at 21.. Tones

    Quite a coincidence there, no?

And the video, quite provocative indeed.
