Feelings of freedom, ease, connection = VCL.

I plan on doing much more with the topic, especially since the interest was great…

And please, if you have questions or comments, just post them below…

Some Very Cool Dancing… And Then Some

Heard about this video, then read this piece in The New York Times and then found it on YouTube. My favorite quote in the article is where Matt talks about his simple inspiration to travel ("It's the one thing I'm really good at.")

The video expresses more than my words can, so I'll just invite you to enjoy it.

It certainly fits my definition of cool — full of freedom, ease, and connection.

Well done, Matt. Well done indeed. His site is worth a visit as well!

Things that fly

Okay, so it was spring. For like a minute…

And then the snow returned…

Doing my best to get a good shot of the cardinal who greets me every morning. He's wary of me though. Any time I pick up the camera and move toward the window, he's gone. (I hear his chirp outside my window right now!)

Had to zoom in on the tree for this one, so the resolution is not great.

Need a high-end camera!

Finch dive-bombing the feeder outside my office window…

Just having some fun here… This is the field next to my house. To my surprise, I really enjoy flying a kite. A bought it over the summer on a trip to Cape Cod — a $12.99 investment that continues to pay dividends. Flying a kite reminds me of fishing — there's thrill of the unknown… What will be on the end of the line? Will I be able to keep this kite from being eaten by a tree?

I actually get anxious when the kite gets really high… is it too high? There's a metaphor there for life, I suppose…

But it is a simple, clean rush…

Finally — these things don't fly… but an update on Limpy the fox who lives across the road under my neighbor's barn. Limpy's got a wife and they have three little pups! I will try to get pictures because the babies are sooo cute (they even wag their tails like little puppies). Will do my best to get a photo or movie, but I am not sure how close I can get…

Video Fun - Conscious Conversations

So I spent my Saturday night in my basement.

I hung sheets all over the place.

I played with the contractor lighting I bought earlier in the day at Home Depot.

I searched the Interweb for tips on how to create better looking videos on the cheap.

And the result of these hours was this promo video for my Conscious Conversations community. These calls have been really enjoyable/valuable for me and the rest of the folks who've joined the conversation.

I love creating and being part of a community — especially sharing time with friends who share my passion for creating an attractive, very cool life. If you have the same passion (or even a growing curiosity), I encourage you to check us out.

Without further adieu, here's my inner Spielberg coming out…

Listen to a 4 minute excerpt from our last call…

Read more about the group here.

Thank you both for a really interesting chat. I enjoyed listening to you both tease out attraction issues and am looking forward to future conversations. It was great to have some old ideas reinforced as well as some new food for thought. - Fiona

Just a note to say thanks for "instigating" Conscious Conversations. The hours I spend on the phone with you both bring such joy to my life. I just re-listened to our past conversations on what has been a bum day for me, and though I am just about to drift off to sleep the call resurrected my day to the extent that I physically feel happier. The words of wisdom, ways of thinking and perspective you both offer adds quality points to who I am and the way I function in the world. - Andi

Our next calls are on February 14th and 28th! Hope to connect with you there…

So is the video perfect?

Of course not. I'm the type of guy who could spend hours trying to perfect something like this. But I believe it's better to create and put it out there rather than try to perfect something. This is just the first of what I assume will be many creations.

It's fun to do, fun to play with, fun to learn. I created all this for less than 100 bucks of materials (though I had a good digital camera and a MacBookPro laptop). Perhaps (if any one wants to know), I can share what I learned to save you some time if you have a similar desire. 'Cuz video is where the web is going!

Laughing with Chris Farley

Karin and I finished watching a movie on Saturday night. She took a shower and I turned on the television. I was not expecting much as we do not have cable and only get three or four channels (only one of which comes in well). Anyway, I was thrilled to find a Chris Farley sketch playing. His comic genius just hits all the right notes for me.

I found myself laughing out loud, calling for Karin to come in the room and watch it with me. She was mid-shampoo, so I shared the moment with the sleeping cat on my lap.

We all know the power of laughter.

Few things feel as good as a laugh from the gut. At the heart of living a very cool life is connection and where there is connection, there is laughter. Without laughter in your life on a regular basis, whaddaya got?

Through the miracle of the interweb, I did a YouTube search looking for some Chris Farley clips. Here are a couple that tickled my fancy. The first one had tears coming down my face. The second is the one that brought me so much joy on Saturday and inspired me to share this.

Whether these clips are your cup of tea, I do not know. A sense of humor is like one's musical tastes. One size does not fit all.

The real point is to surround yourself with the people and things that make you laugh.

Not smile.

Not giggle.

But laugh out loud.

Maybe these will do the trick?
