If you’ve not seen the video above, it’s worth a look.

The points Jack made decades ago remain just as relevant today.

Practice moving your body. Eat well. Choose good thoughts.

The real goal of this whole ride is to feel good.

When I first watched this video (thanks Warren), while I resonated with what Jack was saying, what really struck me was HOW he was saying it.

Looking back on this archival footage, it’s no mystery why Mr. LaLanne was able to create a Very Cool Life and help a lot of people along the way.

Check out his enthusiasm. His zest. His connection.

His energy is contagious.

Certainly he believes what he’s saying.

You get the sense that he cannot not share his message.

You know he could talk about the subject of wellness all day and never tire of it. It lights him up and feeds him energy.

This feeling of Connection is one of the 3 Pillars of a Very Cool Life (the other two are Freedom and Ease). If you do not feel connected and spend your time aligned with that which resonates from deep inside you, a Very Cool Life will elude you.

It does not matter if this feeling of connection comes from teaching wellness, fixing cars, or making the numbers add up as an accountant.

What you do matters not. How you feel when you do what you do is everything.

Consider this:

If you find yourself approaching your work with any degree of resistance, that’s feedback.

If you do not wake up feeling jazzed about what you are going to create this day, that’s feedback.

Something needs to change.

I think the mistake is to think of someone like Mr. LaLanne as unusual or “lucky” to have found his passion.

We’re all here to live lives of connection and purpose.

The real question is whether you allow yourself to make the decision to live your life in a way that feels aligned.

It takes  courage.  It takes practice.

But in the end, this is what leads to true happiness. And as Jack points out, this is what really matters.
