On my vision board in my office is a picture of a Toyota FJ Cruiser.
I’ve wanted one since they were introduced a couple of years ago.
Each time I see one on the road, I feel my desire light up. A few months back I stopped a dealership and sat in a couple models to stoke the flames of my desire.
The other day I was leaving the mountain after a great day of spring skiing. My legs were shot from a day of pushing myself and I was hungry as I’d not eaten since breakfast. In short, I was looking forward to getting home and sitting in front of the fire.
On my way out of the resort, I noticed two FJ Cruisers off to my right. As I got closer, I saw a sign inviting me to stop in an test drive the FJ on an obstacle course. As cool as that seemed, my tired legs and grubling belly trumped my desire. I drove on past the entrance to the course.
But as I drove on, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was cheating myself in some way. Opportunity was knocking, and I needed to open the door. So I did a U-Turn and within a few minutes I was on the course. (The young man asked me if I had a license. I said yes. We were on our way).
This is me driving the course. A little 3 wheel action! I really thought I might roll it one section.
Toyota was smart enough to take my picture. Good marketing, eh? I mean, I’m sharing it…
So now I want an FJ more than ever, of course! I’m sure I could have one in my garage tomorrow if I went to the dealer, but I have no desire to do a lot of financing to get something I really do not absolutely need (but it would be very cool).
Right now, I do not know how this vehicle is going to come into my life. As far as I can tell (but hey, I am open to anything!) I’ll need to attract more money. But my desire is growing stronger and in my experience, when I get this feeling, something usually happens.
The greater point to make here is that I believe you have to meet the universe half-way in manifesting your desires. Attracting things is not simply about thinking positive thoughts, sitting on your couch with a nice beer, and waiting for the doorbell to ring (alas, I’ve tried this to no avail).
Rather, you need to engage in the actions that are in alignment with your desires. Whether you want a vehicle, a home, a career you love, or a life partner ask yourself what you are doing to meet the universe half way? What are you doing that brings up the same feeling within you that matches the feeling of having your desire already?
Stopping to test drive a vehicle certainly is not hard. Yet in that moment, it was easier for me to drive on by. Such is the case with so many of our desires. It’s simply easier not to put our conscious attention on what we want. Strange, but true.
Keep in mind, conscious actions lead to conscious creations.
The next photo of me and the FJ will be me sitting in my driveway. Dunno when that will be, but I can feel it.
To be continued…
I loved this post! I like most of your posts, actually, but this one is special! I would have a question pop into my head and then in the next sentence you would answer it! (Like, how did you get a pic of you in the test drive car – OH! clever mktg, THAT!)
I just got back from a week in Costa Rica – you were right of course. BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY. wow.
hi C–
