“Music is the best” — Frank Zappa

February 10, 2007 drewrozell 2 Comments

Okay, time for another music video.

In fact it’s another Incubus video… What can I tell you? I think these guys are good. They make music that makes me feeeeeel something. And for the most part, that’s the only music I care to listen to…

The band had the brilliant idea to let people submit videos for their new single, "Dig". I’ve watched several of them online and I find the contestants’ creativity really inspiring. So many brilliant minds out there!

Technology can be a pain in the ass, sure, but I don’t think you can deny that it creates a wonderful gateway to self-expression. After all, you’re reading this and perhaps you’ll now explore the bands’ music and the creations of the video makers. Cool stuff.

I just chose the two "Dig" videos below because I liked them best. If you go to http://www.idigincubus.com you’ll see the finalists for their contest.

As for the song, well, I have my friend Wendi the Bliss Chick in sunny California to thank for turning me on to it. Listen to it once, you might like it. Listen to it twice and you’ll listen to it three times. And then it’s in your head and heart. Or so I think….

The song moves me, but I’ll leave my interpretation to myself so you can have yours (but feel free to share yours in a comment).

Incubus – "Dig" Lyrics

We All Have A Weakness
But Some Of Ours Are Easier To Identify. Look Me In The Eye
And Ask For Forgiveness;
We’ll Make A Pact To Never Speak That Word Again
Yes You Are My Friend.
We All Have Something That Digs At Us,
At Least We Dig Each Other
So When Weakenss Turns My Ego Up
I Know You’ll Count On The Me From Yesterday
If I Turn Into Another
Dig Me Up From Under What Is Covering
The Better Part Of Me
Sing This Song
Remind Me That We’ll Always Have Each Other
When Everything Else Is Gone.
We All Have A Sickness
That Cleverly Attaches And Multiplies
No Matter How Hard We Try.
We All Have Something That Digs At Us,
At Least We Dig Each Other
So When Sickness Turns My Ego Up
I Know You’ll Act As A Clever Medicine.
If I Turn Into Another
Dig Me Up From Under What Is Covering
The Better Part Of Me.
Sing This Song!
Remind Me That We’ll Always Have Each Other
When Everything Else Is Gone.
Oh Each Other….
When Everything
Else Is Gone.

Thank you for the mention Drew… and the heads up about the videos! I have been awaiting the “DIG” video since I first heard the song… You know how ipods have a song counter? Well I’m not sure I should admit this but my song counter shows I have played this song 153 times (almost 5 times more than any other song)… guess you could say I’m hooked! Thanks for sharing your favorites— watching and listening gave me the chills (the good kind)!

Hi Drew ~ I really ‘dug’ the Incubus Dig video…it took me back to the ‘Core Dynamics’ workshop you held a few years ago. Thanks for sharing this, and for all other the cool stuff on DrewRozell.com.
