Law of Attraction Music — Incubus “Drive”

The Law of Attraction for Very Cool Living

Incubus – "Drive"

Everyone loves a song with a great melody. To me, the most memorable songs are the ones with lyrics that enhance that melody — music that means something.

Perhaps you’ve heard this song by Incubus before — it’s one of their most popluar songs and gets a fair amount of air play.

But I wonder if you’ve ever really listened to the song?

I think the message of  "Drive" goes right to the heart of the Law of Attraction. It inspires me every time I hear it.

So press play and for the next four minutes, perhaps you can consider who’s behind your wheel…

Incubus – Drive

Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I can’t help but ask myself how much
I’ll let the fear take the wheel and steer.
It’s driven me before, and it seems to have a vague,
haunting mass appeal.
But lately I’m beginning to find that I
should be the one behind the wheel.

Whatever tomorrow brings,
I’ll be there with open arms and open eyes, Yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there…I’ll be there.

So, if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive?
Aah-ah-oo-o-o.

It’s driven me before and it seems to be the way
that everyone else gets around.
But lately I’m beginning to find that when
I drive myself my light is found.

Whatever tomorrow brings,
I’ll be there with open arms and open eyes, Yeahhh
Whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there…I’ll be there.

Would you choose water over wine….hold the wheel and drive?

The Law of Attraction, The Health Food Store & The Power of Environments

I live in the country. The closest town — and it’s one stoplight town at that — is about 5 miles away. The main street has a New England feel and after decades of depression, seems just about ready for a comeback.

We buy lots of organic products so we were thrilled when one of the vacant storefronts morphed into a lovely health food store. The new owners obviously invested many thousands of dollars remodeling the space. They have lots of great products including meats and produce.

As much as we like having the store nearby, we were not surprised when we started to hear whispers that the store isn’t doing so well and might be in danger of closing. While the health food store invested lots of money making the store look great, I noticed they overlooked one of the most important aspects of a retail business. The checkout.

The owners installed a state of the art computer/scanner system. Well done. However, the entire check out area is smaller than the desk I type this on. There’s no surface area for shoppers to place lots of groceries. In fact, if I were to shop at this health food store and buy hundreds of dollars worth of food and products (which happens everytime we visit to the traditional grocery store), there would be no easy way to check out.

In other words, with their tiny check out area, the health food store is telling the universe (and their customers): Hey, don’t buy much stuff here! Nothing more than you can carry, please. We cannot handle it. We’re not ready for it. We don’t want that much business.

Even though we like their prodcut, we don’t end up shopping there very much even though we’re their target market. They are not ready to recieve our business. As a result, I would be suprised if the business remains viable.

My point is this… Think about what you desire to attract in your life. Is it more money? A significant other? A second home? Whatever it is, are you ready for it? Are you acting "as if?" Or are you waiting for your desire to show up before you make the appropriate changes in your life?

For example, if you desire more money, do you have a place to put it already? Or are you waiting until it shows up before you create that environment, like a separate bank account? (By the way, my book Piles of Money is all about creating the proper environments to attract money into your life. It’s here.) Can you visualize what you want your vacation home to be like? And if you wish to attract someone special in your life, do you feel special to yourself?

When you create the environment that is aligned with your desires, you are putting out a clear signal to the universe instead of a conflicting intention. That’s your responsibility in the attraction process.

DO NOT OVERLOOK THIS STEP.

So whatever your desires, make sure your checkout space is big enough to handle the Tom’s toothpaste, the organic apples, the bean dip, and lots of buffalo meat, okay?

Create the space to let it in!

God and the Law of Attraction

So let’s talk about God.

I just read a quote from Pope Benedict XVI, the new pope. Upon a recent visit to the Nazi death camps of Auschwitz, he commented:

“In a place like this, words fail. In the end there can only be dread silence — a silence which is itself a heartfelt cry to God: Why Lord, did you remain silent? How could you tolerate all of this?”

I can understand the pope’s feelings of reverence and sadness in a place where such atrocities took place.

I just read that in a recent poll that the majority of the population believes in God. You can count me among them. But I need to qualify my membership (I just gotta be considered special, dontchaknow).

As the good pope reflects in his speech, he believes that God is a person, or person-like. I assume this comes from the belief in Jesus being a deity (or is he the son of the deity? Or are they both God? And what about that Holy Spirit? All those years of church school and I still haven’t figured all that out).

Back to the pope. In his words, the Bible, and most Christian teachings, God is personified, usually in the form of Jesus or Jesus’ dad. Some guy with a white beard and cool sandals. He’s thought to be in control, sitting in the heavens and judging events so as to reward us when we are good and to smite us when we are bad.

For the record, that’s not the God I believe in at all. I do not believe that God is person-like, with all the frailties of being human. At the same time, I believe that each one of us is made up of the same stuff as God. At first glance, that may seem contradictory, but it’s not to me.

When I speak of God, I do not refer to Jesus. Or Buddha. Or Krishna. Or Muhammad. Or any of the prophets from history. I am referring to the divine energy that those teachers were connected to — the source of all creation.

An easier way to think of it is to simply see the entire world of consisting of energy. When you break everything in the universe down to its smallest  building block, everything is made up of the same stuff — energy. The differences we perceive in matter reflect different patterns of energy.

Quantum physics aside, we beings of energy are made up of the same stuff as everything else in the universe (energy) and all part/reflections of the Universal Source of energy. Again, that’s what I would call God.

When I read the pope’s words, I am struck at how the leader of over a billion Christians worldwide seemed flabbergasted at how God (the personified God, that is), could let such horrible things happen. Of course there’s no way for any of us to know, me included.

But what if God wasn’t human in the sense of having feelings like suffering, joy, or vengence? What if God was just as Energetic Force that reflected back to us our thoughts, feelings, and energy?

At the very least, this would put the onus of responsibility as to why things like Hitler’s reign took place on humankind, rather than  laying part of the blame on God for why he “tolerated it.”

Seems to me that either the the pope (who is theoretically supposed to be infallible and have direct communication with God) should either have a pretty dang good explanation from God, or that just maybe, just maybe, God had nothing to do with it.
