Rush Limbaugh is right

December 5, 2008 drewrozell 2 Comments

Doesn’t happen too often with Rush, but I thought he expressed a couple of my views well.

He was being interviewed by Barbara Walters and she was trying to get him to admit that he was overpaid — coming from the place that there’s a finite amount of money and that his being rich was somehow taking money from others. Someone tell Barbara that’s not how it works. The universe is infinitely abundant. She should know, right? I mean, she does pretty well for herself, yes?

In making her point, she chided Rush for making so much money in a recession.

Here’s where I think he nailed it… In his comment re: the recession, he replied:

“I choose not to participate.”

I found myself nodding my head… another dittohead for Rush!

Hmmmn. Gets me thinking…

Remember in the presidential campaign when John McCain’s economic advisor Phil Gramm said he thought the U.S. was in a “mental recession” (as opposed to a “real” one)?

While I was giddy at the political implications of his statement, I think I have to agree with Mr. Gramm (another first!) as well… Lots of people choose to be in the conversation about how “bad” things are. We find comfort and common ground from the habit of complaining — it’s a way to relate with others.

Certainly, one can point to the evidence of how lousy things are. I know people who’ve been laid off, too.

Life is full of events. The important question is how you respond to those events. If you buy in to the reality of how awful things are, or you tap into your fears about not having a job or enough money, there is nothing you can create but more of the same.

In times of contrast (experiencing what we do not want), it’s up to you to use this as the springboard to identify WHAT YOU DO WANT. For example, if you find that your fear-of-not-having-enough-money button has been pushed, you have two choices.

1) Dive into the vortex of fear and let these thoughts run wild and keep you turning in your bed at night. (Taking actions from a place of fear does not lead to ideal outcomes, either.)

or…

2) Identify how you would really like to experience money in your life. Put yourself in that feeling place. In other words, take the time (this is where most people miss the boat) to connect to the emotions and sensations of how you would feel if you had more money than you could spend in a lifetime. (Personally, when I do this, I see myself on a beach with a big pail. The ocean represents money or abundance. There’s an infinite supply around me and whatever I need or desire, I just dip my pail in. Works for me, anyhow…)

Most people do not bother connecting to the feelings they most want to experience. I think they primary cause for this is that we’ve never been taught how things really get created. We have come to believe that it’s through our actions and through our “figuring things” out that we make things happen. That’s a powerful illusion and one that our ego likes to keep firmly in place. (“Drew do things. Drew smart. Drew good.”)

However, if you have some resonance as to the idea that you are the creator of your reality — that you can FEEL the truth in those words (even if you don’t fully understand the mechanisms), then I encourage you to tkae the first step and become aware of the feelings you are connecting to…

Like Rush, you have a choice as to what reality you participate in.

And that’s great news…

I like this (“Drew do things. Drew smart. Drew good.)

I discovered – Fiona feel about future – life is good. Fiona think about future – panics. Note to self – too much thinking not healthy!
