The Magic Button

March 30, 2010 drewrozell 4 Comments

I’ve discovered a magic button on my computer.

Turns out it works wonders not only online, but everywhere in my life.

You gotta check it out!

It’s called the “Delete” key.

Here’s how it works…

When I come across stuff that I do not like, that’s overly negative, or fails to add any value to my life, I just press the button!

DELETE!

And like magic, it’s gone! Poof! Out of my life!

I no longer have to steam, fume, or get myself in a huff.

I just hit the button, and PRESTO, the irritation is gone.

Like I said, I’m learning that this button works everywhere!

When I get a whiny e-mail from someone, do I still need to hem and haw over my reply? To try to assuage their feelings? To expend lots of energy trying to manipulate them into seeing how I am “right?”

Not anymore!

DELETE!

Turns out, I don’t even need to reply at all!

Wow! That’s feels good!

Oh sure, once in a while, the irritation comes back…

But here’s the best part — the button always works!

DELETE!

And just like that, it’s gone again!

The button works like a charm for social networking…

When I come across people on Facebook who like to complain about their mood, the government, the weather?

DELETE!

Just like that, their stuff no longer comes up on my page.

Oooh! That one gives me the tingles!

The really cool part is that the button works beyond my computer!

Now, when it dawns on me that a friend is really more of an energy drain than an energy boost?

DELETE!

Life is short. I value my time and I care about how I feel more than I care about nostalgia.

And that’s not all, folks…

A potential business client who wants to see if he can whittle down my fee? (These are always the worst clients, by the way…)

DELETE!

I’ve worked too long to hone my skills and value my talents too much to work with people who cannot see that value. Let them work with someone else. No need to even try crafting a reply!

(I must say, deleting these folks feels particularly sweet!)

I’m just getting the hang of this thing. But the more I use it, the better I feel!

I wonder why I didn’t even really notice is sitting there for all these years, begging to be used before?

I suppose I was concerned with what those people would think of me if I used it.

After all, somewhere along the line, I learned it was rude to use this button. But now that I think about it, and feeling how liberating it is to DELETE, I am guessing the person who taught me that was not an expert at feeling good.
