I lay across the bed. Parallel to the headboard. It’s mid-afternoon.
The mattress is a Tempur-Pedic Cloud, and it’s aptly named. It’s crazy comfortable. I sink in and my whole body relaxes.
I’m not alone.
My daughter lay next to me. She’s cooing and kicking, playing with her rattle. She’s very happy.
I hear the rainwater trickling though the gutter; a very pleasant white noise. The birds sound pleased to have a bath.
It’s a quiet day. The clouds serve as our blanket. There’s nowhere to be, nothing to get done.
I squeeze Ella’s perfectly chubby thighs, tickling her, and she laughs her staccato laugh. When she looks at me with her smiling eyes, I am… connected.
Coco the cat makes her warm nest on my stomach. She closes her eyes and purrs. My hand glides over her soft fur. And again.
I think to myself how wonderful this moment is… How everything feels so good. How comfortable and satisfied the three of us feel.
I bask in the feeling for a couple of minutes. That’s all it takes. I am drunk with fulfillment.
This is the best moment of my life. Ever.
Until the next one.
Beautiful.
