“This stuff works”
A fall hike with my friend Matt that turned into a winter hike. More pix here.
Welcome, my friend!
Good to connect with you again.
Thanks for all your feedback on my Thanksgiving video on the distinction between gratitude and appreciation! People seemed to like it…
Just back from some traveling/training on the West Coast. Learned a lot, saw my friend Warren, and invested in a coach to guide me to bigger and better things. I am locked and loaded for the New Year. Feeling great and ready to rock…
Hope the same is true for you!
Speaking of feeling great, for men who are ready to invest in themselves and learn the techniques and strategies that will allow them to excel in the New Year and beyond, registration for the 40XP Program closes on Sunday, December 13 @ 10PM EST. Details below.
Onto this month’s feature…
When I began writing this month, I did not have a Christmas theme in mind, but as my thoughts came out on the page, The Ultimate Gift spilled onto the page. As you will see, I have strong beliefs in this area.
Finally, I included a fun video that I created from the photos I’ve taken on various trips in the past year. Check it out and the end of this issue.
I wish you a peaceful holiday season and I hope you find this newsletter valuable.
Thanks for your support and your time.
P.S. If you like this, please share it with someone. Or leave a comment.
THE ULTIMATE GIFT
It’s not the government.
It’s not the liberals.
It’s not the conservatives.
It’s not the President.
It’s not your God.
It’s not their God.
It’s not karma or something you did in a past life.
It’s not the economy.
It’s not the stock market.
It’s not your husband, wife, or lover.
It’s not your teacher.
It’s not your boss.
It’s not your co-worker.
It’s not your genetics.
It’s not your mother or your father.
It’s not what happened to you in your childhood.
It’s not your brother.
It’s not your kids.
It’s not your illness.
It’s not the weather.
It’s not your friend.
It’s not your enemy.
It’s not bad luck, fate, or circumstances beyond your control.
It’s not somebody else’s fault.
It’s all about YOU.
And it’s all up to YOU.
A few people will resonate with this statement immediately. A few people reject the idea just as quickly, offering up their proof or their unanswered questions that allow them to continue to push their responsibilities apart from themselves. And most people, not having thought about it too much, waver somewhere in middle, believing some aspects of our lives are up to us, others to forces outside of our control.
Do you wish to give yourself the ultimate gift of a lifetime?
Today can be that day. This gift does not come free, however. It requires you to DECIDE.
To accept this gift, you must decide to see your life through a new lens, the lens through which you begin to see that the people, events, and circumstances that show up in your life are a perfect reflection of you, and the energy you project.
Of course, the decision to begin owning all of your life is a daring one and this is why I call it taking “radical responsibility” for your life. This decision requires you to give up your habits of making excuses, to give up the notion of victimhood, to stop blaming the people and forces around you. Most important, taking radical responsibility for your life means that you take responsibility for the thoughts that you are choosing and recognize that your thoughts determine what you experience.
Conversely, if you’re not willing to take responsibility for your life, there will always be someone or something else ready to take the wheel – a politician you disagree with, an ex-spouse, a cancer cell, a low bank account balance, etc.
Here’s the practical reason for taking radical responsibility for your life: If you do not own a certain aspect of your life, you are powerless to change it.
And here’s the bigger picture: Your ability to create your life and to tailor your experiences in harmony with your deepest desires is a magnificent gift. Whether you call it God, the Universe, Source – you are part of a universal energy with the power to create worlds. You chose to come into this human experience, to experiment and practice harnessing the power of focusing your thoughts. You chose to come into this human experience to experience the exhilaration of seeing what you can create.
Sure, the thought of taking full responsibility can be unsettling – causing people to think “Oh God!” at the changes that this new state will require. However, by making the decision to accept the gift, you choose to take back your personal power and your innate ability to steer your life in the direction of your desires (instead of your fears). In short, you enter a life of true freedom.
When you fail to take radical responsibility for your life, you reject this magnificent gift. At the very least, you leave it unopened, locked in a box of unrealized potential.
The best part of this gift is that when you accept it, not only will your life immediately start to feel better and better, but everyone surrounding you will feel the benefits as well.
So go on. Open it up. Accept the gift before you. Decide that you — and you alone — are the creator of your life. Invest in learning the skill of directing your thoughts and commit to practicing this art.
Because whether or not you choose to allow the very best that life has into your experience depends upon it.
<< * MY NEW PROGRAM | FOR MEN ONLY * >>
What kind of shape are you in?
Really now… be honest with yourself…
And yes, I’m talking about your physical condition… but I’m talking about more than that too… You’re not getting any younger, you know… Are you really where you thought you’d be at this point in your life?
I bet I know the answer…
So, back to the question…
Are you a little “loose in the cage?” Gone a little soft? Have you put your life and work on cruise control for a while?
Hell, all things considered, I bet you’re still doing pretty dang well — I bet life is GOOD. Or at least, GOOD ENOUGH.
But what if NOW was the time to change that standard in your life?
WHAT IF “GOOD ENOUGH” was no longer good enough?
What are you REALLY capable of?
Could you be… dare I say it… GREAT?
Are you willing to find out?
40XP is my new program designed to separate the men from the boys. 40XP (the XP is short for Extreme Program) will be a 40 day intensive program for men who are ready to see what they are really capable of creating in their lives.
40XP will focus on 3 specific areas: BODY • MIND • WORK
If you’re ready to inspire yourself again… if you’re ready for a challenge … if you’re ready to work, to learn, to sweat, to become a Badass Man, then you might be ready for 40XP.

* A Book and a Movie *
• A Book:
THREE CUPS OF TEA: By Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. I was late to the party on this book, but heard so many good things, I knew I had to check it out. Glad I did. For a truly inspiring story and some great insight into Afghanistan, check it out. Highest recommendation.
• A Movie:
YES MAN: Karin rented this one. Jim Carrey’s usually a good bet, but I was a little wary having remembered the trailers from months ago. You know what? It wasn’t too bad. A few laughs here and there. And the message — saying yes to life — was one I could resonate with. (We did laugh at how closely the movie captured some of the cheesiness of a personal development seminar.)
