The Most Important Decision Most People Never Make

January 20, 2011 drewrozell 2 Comments

(the view from a favorite hike in Vermont)

Do you take 100% responsibility for everything that happens in your life?

The good…

The bad….

The frustrating…

The weird…

The wonderful…

The stuff that on first glance seems to be good or bad luck?

When I say 100%, I mean 100%.

Do you accept that everything that shows up in your life is a reflection of the energy you project?

Because if you want to THRIVE in all areas of your life, to see how magnificent your life is supposed to feel, then there is only one possible answer to the question.

And here’s the kicker…

Just telling yourself that you take 100% responsibility for your life does not cut it.

Not even close.

Make no mistake, taking 100% responsibility — what I call becoming Radically Responsible for your life — is not easy.

(Our default mode is to blame other people or circumstances for what shows up in our lives or how we feel.)

Becoming Radically Responsible for your life is a decision.

A choice.

A practice that requires continual awareness and vigilance.

This is the most important decision that most people fail to make.

If you’re ready to see what’s possible for you (and what’s waiting for you), now’s a good time to decide to become Radically Responsible.

I have struggled with this. I would agree, except…that leads into the area of trying to control everything in your life. Being kind of type A, I have driven myself insane in the past trying to control things in my life and coming undone when it doesn’t work out. I probably went about it the wrong way but I hope you can understand the slippery slope if you don’t go about it correctly. I have gotten the book and really look forward to refining my approach! Looking forward to getting it right.

      @Jen: Hi Jen

(sorry to just get to replying, your comment got stuck somewhere and I just found it)

here’s the distinction (that I hope my book makes clear, too)…

Radical Responsibility is not about controlling outcomes.

Radical Responsibility is about choosing your response to the outcomes that occur.
