Who’s the Coolest?

November 5, 2007 drewrozell 4 Comments

Thanks to all who participated in the previous vote. It was VERY helpful to get that feedback and really helped me clarify some things — especially people who were critical in a positive way.

On Sunday, I think it came to me as to what the title needs to be and how to best present my work. My agent felt the same. So for now, I am going to sit on the title, but indeed it has to do with defining cool in terms of freedom, ease, and connection.

For the record, the suggestion: Creating a Very Cool Life: Adventures in Crafting a Life of Freedom, Ease and Connection took over 20% of the vote! Well done and thanks so much for the suggestion…

In the meantime, as I continue to explore the concept of cool, I hope you will take a moment to engage the new poll to the right —

Who’s the coolest of the people I list?

And equally as important, I hope you’ll take a moment to tell WHY you feel that way in the comments!

Thanks!

drew

The Dalai Lama: I’ve read one of his books and listened to one of his monks speak here. He attracts peace and understanding wherever he goes. He is always striving for those around him to catch a glimmer of the good that is in the world. Those that gravitate to him are then propelled onward to continue his message. Despite the odds he has been against he has been able keep the Tibetan monks together and healthy in other countries. He continues to attract followers and supporters. He works hard at attracting, not for his own gain, but that of humanity.
I see that no one so far has voted for Trump. I think he truly works the attraction for greed, vanity and corruption. He would probably be my second pick…or tied w/Oprah. Although he may not attract in a positive way he is certainly asking for and receiving all he wants…We may not be happy with him, but that isn’t to say he isn’t happy with himself and the world he has created.

For some reason as I looked over the names and smiled at a few that I believe are “cool” but still I didn’t feel compelled to vote…

They seem to already have the vote of millions. Now had you put your name “DREW” I have a feeling the vote would be a landslide in your circle… because there is something mysterious about the pre-famous, something hopeful and connecting with the anticipation of what could be, and that feels pretty cool…

    Other votes would include:
****My sons (the biggest mystery & potential I experience everyday)
****My clients who invest in uncovering their own coolness
****The people I see in my everyday life who do cool things un-noticed, un-acknowledged just because it is who they are and they can’t help it.
****Even strangers that I witness… I just find myself stopping and noticing and saying to myself “that is cool”
****Oh and you Drew… who reminds us were all cool!

So I am outside the bubble on this one you could say!

    hi Diana —

It would seem what makes the Dalai Lama cool in your opinion is that he is attractive — he draws people and energy to him.

I put Trump on the list to see if any one would vote for him. Sure, he is rich and famous. He appears to have a cool lifestyle. But a lifestyle is not the same as a life, IMO. He seems very ego-driven, so much that he gets in public feuds with other people. Personally, I don’t find him cool… so far, no one else does either —

    thanks for your thoughts,

    d

    Wendi —

    well, I appreciate the vote!

as you say with your clients, I believe coolness is not something outside of us to aspire to — instead its our very essence that we are best served to connect to…

perhaps a better question would have been “who’s the coolest person you know and why?”

for the record, I voted for Bill Gates. in part because I figured he might not get another vote. but also because he has created from his passion, manifested, and shared. I wonder what he would be like as a dinner companion…

    warmest,

    d
